Samples

What our writing looks like, before and after

Short, illustrative examples for each kind of document we write. Our team wrote them to show our standards. The people, employers and numbers are invented.

Every sample on this page is illustrative. They are not real customers and not real CVs. In your order, every fact and number comes from you. We only use facts you give us. If something is missing, we ask you. We never invent experience, skills, results or references.

Why the after version works

  • Names the role, the sector and the years, in the first line.
  • Uses a number the candidate gave us, not one we guessed.
  • Says which job it is aimed at, so the reader does not have to work it out.

Why the after version works

  • Starts each line with an action, not 'Responsible for'.
  • Every number comes from the candidate. If they do not know a number, we describe the work without one.
  • Shows how the result happened, which is what interviewers ask about.

Cover letter opening

An opening that answers the job ad

Why the after version works

  • Repeats what the ad asks for, then proves it in one sentence.
  • Uses a neutral greeting when no name is given.
  • Specific place, duration and task, all from the candidate.

Illustrative sample written by our team. Not a real customer.

Why the after version works

  • Matches the job category the candidate selects on Bdjobs.
  • Names real tasks an employer searches for.
  • Says what the person wants next, in one line.

LinkedIn headline and About

A headline people can search, and an About that gets read

Junior software engineer, 1 year of experience.

Before

Headline: Student at a private university | Looking for opportunitiesAbout: I am a passionate and enthusiastic person who loves technology and learning new things.

After

Headline: Junior Software Engineer | Laravel, MySQL, REST APIs | Building internal tools for logisticsAbout: I build the internal tools that a delivery company's dispatch team uses every day. Illustrative sample written by our team. Not a real customer.

Why the after version works

  • The headline holds the job title and the skills recruiters search for.
  • The first two lines of About work on their own, before 'see more'.
  • Plain claims the candidate can talk through in an interview.

Statement of purpose paragraph

A paragraph built from a real experience

Economics graduate applying for a master's in development economics.

Before

Since my childhood I have been passionate about economics. I want to study in your prestigious university because it is one of the best in the world and it will help me achieve my dreams.

After

During my final-year research on a microfinance repayment survey in Sirajganj, I noticed that borrowers missed payments in the same three months every year, just before the harvest. That pattern is why I want to study development economics: to learn how credit products can follow the farming calendar instead of fighting it.

Why the after version works

  • Opens with something the applicant actually saw and did.
  • Links that experience to the programme, without flattery.
  • Everything in it can be checked against the applicant's CV.
