BCS viva questions

BCS viva boards ask about you, your subject, Bangladesh, the Liberation War, the Constitution and current affairs, and test your English. These are the kinds of questions to prepare for.

About you

  1. 1Tell us about yourself.

What they want to know: Whether you can sum up who you are and why you fit, in a minute.

How to answer: Present, past, future: what you do now, one or two things you did that matter for this job, and why you want it.

  2. 2Why do you want this job?

What they want to know: Whether you know what the job is and chose it on purpose.

How to answer: Name two things about the role or the organisation that match what you are good at. Avoid salary and security as your main reason.

  3. 3What are your strengths and weaknesses?

What they want to know: Self-awareness, and honesty.

How to answer: Give a strength with a short example. For a weakness, pick a real one that does not break the job, and say what you do about it.

Bangladesh and history

  1. 4Why did you choose this cadre first?

What they want to know: Whether your choice is thought through.

How to answer: Link the cadre's work to your subject, skills and what you want to do for the country. Be specific.

  2. 5Talk about the importance of 7 March 1971.

What they want to know: Knowledge of the Liberation War and how you express it.

How to answer: Prepare the key events of 1971 in order, in your own words, in both Bangla and English.

  3. 6What are the fundamental principles of state policy in our Constitution?

What they want to know: Constitutional knowledge expected of a civil servant.

How to answer: Learn the main parts of the Constitution and be ready to explain one in simple words.

Current affairs and your district

  1. 7What is the most important problem in your district, and how would you solve it?

What they want to know: Whether you think like an administrator.

How to answer: Pick one real problem, give one or two practical steps and who you would work with.

  2. 8What do you know about the current development projects in Bangladesh?

What they want to know: Awareness of national priorities.

How to answer: Know a few major projects: what they are, where, and why they matter.

  3. 9Answer this in English: introduce your hometown.

What they want to know: Spoken English and confidence.

How to answer: Short, simple sentences. Practise aloud until it feels natural.

Reading is not practising.
