How to complete and improve your Bdjobs profile

For many jobs in Bangladesh, the first thing an employer sees is not the CV file you attached but your Bdjobs profile. If it is half-empty, out of date or different from your CV, you look less prepared than you are. This guide walks through the parts of the profile that matter most, how to write them so recruiters can find and understand you, and how to keep your account safe. CV Algorithm is not connected with Bdjobs; this is independent advice.

Why your Bdjobs profile matters

Bdjobs is the largest job site in Bangladesh, and its Android app alone has more than 5 million downloads on Google Play. When you apply through Bdjobs, employers typically see your profile in Bdjobs' own resume format, and employers with access to its candidate database can search it by keywords, job category, experience and location.

That means your profile does two jobs: it is your application for every job you apply to through the site, and it is how you are found when a recruiter searches. A complete, specific, consistent profile helps with both. It cannot guarantee calls, but an incomplete one makes it easy to be passed over.

Bdjobs updates its forms from time to time, so field names on your screen may differ slightly from the ones below. The principles stay the same.

Before you start: gather what you need

  • Your latest CV, so the profile matches it exactly.
  • Month and year dates for every job, degree and training.
  • A recent, clear photo: plain background, formal clothes, shoulders up.
  • Your certificates and training details, with the institution and year.
  • A short list of the job categories and locations you actually want.
  • Your current salary and a realistic expected salary for your target roles.

The fields that matter most

  • Career objective: 2 to 3 specific lines on the type of role you want.
  • Career summary: 3 to 4 lines on what you have done and what you are good at.
  • Special qualification: certifications, licences or specialist skills that set you apart.
  • Keywords: the job titles, skills and tools a recruiter might search for.
  • Employment history: every job with title, company, dates and responsibilities written as clear points.
  • Education and training: complete, with results and years.
  • Skills or specialisation: the skills the jobs you want ask for.
  • Preferred job categories, locations and organisation types: these affect which searches and job alerts you appear in.
  • Photo: many employers expect it on a Bdjobs profile.

Writing the career objective and summary

Most Bdjobs profiles use the same copied objective, which tells a recruiter nothing. Write yours for the kind of role you want and the experience you have. If you have work experience, put the substance in the career summary and keep the objective short.

Illustrative example: Bdjobs objective and summary

Career objective (before): 'To build my career in a reputed organisation.'

Career objective (after): 'Looking for a Supply Chain or Procurement Executive role in manufacturing or FMCG, using 2 years of purchasing and vendor management experience.'

Career summary (after): 'Procurement Officer at Example Apparels Ltd, Gazipur, since 2024. Handle purchase orders for about 80 local vendors, compare quotations and track deliveries in ERP. Helped cut late deliveries by following up weekly with the 15 biggest vendors. BBA in Management; certificate in Supply Chain Management.'

Keywords and skills: think like a recruiter searching

A recruiter searching the database types what they need: a job title ('Accounts Executive'), a tool ('Tally', 'SAP', 'AutoCAD'), a skill ('VAT', 'LC', 'digital marketing') or a sector. If those words are not in your profile, you will not come up, however good you are.

Look at five ads for the job you want and note the words that keep repeating. Add the ones that are genuinely true for you to your keywords, skills and job descriptions. Include common variants where it is natural, such as 'HR' and 'Human Resources', or 'LC' and 'Letter of Credit'.

Do not stuff the profile with every popular keyword. A recruiter who finds 'Python, Java, SAP, Photoshop, AutoCAD' on an accounts profile will not trust any of it, and anything listed can be tested at interview.

Employment history: write it like a CV, not a job description

The responsibilities box for each job is where most profiles are weakest. Many people paste the original job description or write one line. Use 3 to 5 short points per job, starting with action verbs and including scale or results you can support.

Illustrative example: one Bdjobs employment entry

Company: Example Pharma Ltd | Position: Medical Promotion Officer | Department: Sales | Jun 2023 to Present

Before: 'Doctor visit and product promotion.'

After:

- Promote 6 products to about 120 doctors across 2 thanas in Rajshahi

- Achieved the quarterly sales target in 5 of the last 7 quarters

- Organise product information sessions at 3 local hospitals

- Report daily calls and orders in the company reporting app

Personal details: why the profile asks and your CV should not

The Bdjobs form asks for personal details such as father's and mother's names, date of birth, religion, marital status and national ID. These are part of its standard form, and some employers need them. Fill them in accurately where the form requires them.

This is also why those details do not need to be on your attached CV. Bdjobs already collects them, so your CV can stay focused on your skills and experience. Our CV check flags them for exactly this reason.

Keep it consistent and current

  • Match your profile to your CV and LinkedIn: same titles, employers and dates. Differences look careless or worse.
  • Update the profile when you change jobs, finish a course or get a result, not only when you start applying.
  • Review your preferred categories and locations. Too narrow and you miss alerts; too broad and you are matched with jobs you do not want.
  • Set an expected salary that is realistic for the role and your experience. Research similar ads, and remember it is a starting point for discussion.
  • If the site lets you attach your own CV as well, attach your latest tailored PDF and check it opens correctly.

Stay safe: passwords and job scams

Never share your Bdjobs password with anyone. That includes friends, CV writers, agencies and us. A legitimate service can give you text to paste into your profile; it never needs to log in as you. If anyone claiming to be CV Algorithm asks for your password, it is not us.

Be careful with job offers that ask for money. Fake job providers in Bangladesh have taken 'security deposits' and processing fees from job seekers, including payments requested through bKash. A real employer does not charge you to get a job or an interview. If an offer asks for a payment, check the organisation independently before you do anything.

Questions people ask

Do you need my Bdjobs password to set up my profile?
Never. We give you the text for each field and you paste it in yourself. Do not share your password with anyone, and if someone claiming to be us asks for it, it is not us.
Will a complete Bdjobs profile get me more interview calls?
We cannot promise that, and nobody honestly can. A complete, specific and consistent profile makes it easier for recruiters to find you and understand your fit. Employers still make the decision.
Should my Bdjobs profile match my CV exactly?
The facts should match: titles, employers, dates, education and results. The wording can be adjusted for the form, but differences in facts look careless to recruiters.
What should I write in the keywords field?
The job titles, tools and skills a recruiter would search for, taken from real ads for your target role, and only those that are true for you. Include common variants such as 'HR' and 'Human Resources'.
Is CV Algorithm part of Bdjobs?
No. CV Algorithm is an independent company and is not connected with Bdjobs. This guide is general advice based on how job portals and recruiters work.
